Academic Internships
Friendly House’s academic internship program offers student interns worldly, hands-on experience in providing services for children, seniors, and low-income families and individuals. Interns assist with numerous aspects of the program in which they’re placed. Students in public health, child development, social work, elder care, public policy or related fields are welcome. Opportunities are available year round; please contact the volunteer coordinator.

* Great opportunity for volunteer groups! Group size varies.

This is a year-round list of volunteer opportunities. Not all positions are always available.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Because volunteers work with or near children and other vulnerable populations, everyone over 18 years old must pass a criminal history check. Also, be aware that if you have not been an Oregon resident for at least 18 months, a criminal history check must extend out-of-state. Consequently the cost increases from $3 to $65. Friendly House cannot afford this fee; we understand that a potential volunteer likewise may not wish to pay such a high fee. We regret this situation and understand if you choose to volunteer elsewhere.
