Friendly House Preschool
Head Teacher

Founded in 1930, Friendly House, Inc. is a private,
nonprofit neighborhood center and social service agency
located in Northwest Portland. Friendly House Preschool
serves children ages 3-5 and their families, who pay
on a sliding fee scale or are subsidized through the
Oregon Prekindergarten Program (OPK) or City of Portland
Children’s Investment Fund. The preschool is one
of five programs at Friendly House.
Scope
of the Position
The head teacher works with a group of 17-20 3-5 year
olds in a 3 ½ hour per day classroom setting.
The head teacher leads a teaching team in planning and
implementing curriculum, developing learning plans,
and assessing individual progress. The head teacher
conducts home visits with OPK families. Two weeks of
paid training will occur this May to prepare the candidate
for the upcoming school year and the position will begin
in August.

List of Essential Duties
• Work with the teaching team to plan and implement
a developmentally appropriate, anti-bias curriculum
which meets the needs, abilities and interests of enrolled
children.
• Teach a.m. or p.m. preschool class in accordance
with the objectives of the OPK program.
• Take responsibility for the preparation of safe
classroom and outdoor environments that change to meet
the needs of growing and developing children.
• Maintain program records and complete service
documentation and reports.
• Facilitate parental involvement and parenting
skill development.
Qualifications
BA in ECE or related field and experience in preschool
classroom setting or AA or CDA & at least 2 years
experience in a preschool classroom. Bilingual in Spanish
and English preferred.
Particulars
Salary range is $12.05-12.41/hour for a full-time, 9
½ month position. Vacation leave, sick leave,
medical and dental benefits during the school year.
Free fitness center membership. Head Teacher will be
supervised by Preschool Director. Status: Non-exempt.

Senior Program
Case Manager Assistant

Scope of Position:
Founded in 1930, Friendly House, Inc. is a private,
nonprofit neighborhood center and social service agency
located in Northwest Portland. This is a 40 hour per
week position assisting case managers by providing in-home
support, problem solving, and advocacy for elders in
the NW Portland, downtown, and North Portland areas.
The CMA will serve as a member of the Friendly House
Senior Program (FHSP) team. Please send resume to CMA2

Essential Duties:
• Serve as an active member of the FHSP staff
teams
• Assist case managers with the implementation
of and follow-up on cares plans for case managed clients
• Provide housekeeping to clients as requested.
• Assist case managers by escorting clients to
medical appointments, medication pick-ups, shopping,
personal business, and recreation and social activities
• Advocate on behalf of FHSP, NHSP and/or YWCA-North
clients
• Provide accurate information to case managers
on client progress or concerns, including medications,
nutrition, mobility, the condition of the client’s
dwelling, etc.
• Assist case managers with paperwork including
documentation, completing forms, assisting client with
applications, data entry, updating client lists, and
other duties as requested.
• Attend and participate in Friendly House departmental
and agency staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Reliable, dependable, timely, attention to detail
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to perform tasks in a prompt, accurate,
and efficient manner
• Basic housekeeping skills
• Ability to work well with a variety of people
including seniors, the mentally ill, people with addiction
issues, and people of diverse backgrounds
• Follow all program procedures and policies
• Ability to be flexible with schedule when required
• Maintain professional boundaries with clients
• Familiarity with community resources
Particulars:
Reports to Senior Program Director. Salary is $10.00-10.30/hr
and includes benefits (health, dental, retirement and
membership at Friendly House Community Center). Criminal
